An upcoming art festival surrounded by rich nature with a spectacular view of the Hida Mountains. This is the second event following the first festival in 2017.

The collaboration of Nature and Art Festival

The Northern Alps Art Festival 2020 is a contemporary art event held in Omachi City, the northern part of Nagano Prefecture.

The event’s general director, Mr. Fram Kitagawa, was also in charge of the Setouchi Triennale Art Festival. This is the second event following the first festival in 2017.

How to reach the Northern Alps Art Festival

Shinano Omachi Station

From Kanto area (Tokyo), go to Nagano Station and take the Hokuriku Shinkansen. From this station, continue your trip with the Alpico’s limited express bus, then get off at Shinano Omachi Station.

You can also take the express bus, the bus goes directly from Shinjuku Station West Exit to Shinano Omachi.

From Kansai area (Osaka), you can ride the express bus bound to Nagano Station or Matsumoto Station. And from the Matsumoto Station, take the JR Oito Line then get off at Shinano Omachi Station.

Matsumoto is home to the National Treasure Matsumoto Castle and the Matsumoto City Museum of Art, where you can explore the artworks of world-renowned Kusama Yayoi. These two spots are highly recommended, come by when you’re visiting the festival.

Advance passport ticket on sale until May 30, 2020

Advance tickets are on sale until May 30, 2020. You’ll get a 500 yen discount off the regular price. (General: 2,000 yen, high school student: 1,000 yen)

You can still enjoy the artworks even without the passport ticket, but you’ll need to pay 300 yen for each artwork.
